As the web progressively gets more and more intricate, it is now essential to deliver a solid web experience to an ever-increasing number of media. Using responsive fluid grids, flexible images, and media queries is one way to help get the design looking fantastic irrespective of the gadget's screen size.
However, there is substantially more to responsive design than simply being aware of the media’s screen size. For example, since one always has their mobile phone with them, connectivity can range from a solid WI-FI signal, to 3G, or even EDGE. Additionally, touch screens open up new opportunities to interact directly with the content, and mobile ergonomics lead to different considerations when designing layout and functionality.
The limitations of portable devices force us to concentrate on what elements are indispensable, and how then to present these elements as fast as possible. Building fast-loading optimised experiences mobile first has a knock-on effect on the design of tablet, desktop, and other emerging media’s.
